North Carolina

Took a mini roadtrip to Raleigh and Asheville, North Carolina with Max. Stayed with Adrienne and Brent & Ryanne. Adrienne gave us an awesome tour of the museum she works at, and showed us a bunch of the animals they have up close.

Born Ruffians & Foggy Nights

Max was coming over and txt’d me saying the fog was pretty intense. I responded “Photoshoot?”

So we drove around looking for fog. I brought my flash and Max filled his boots with water to fire it for some long-exposure shots. I like this technique a lot.

I’m beginning to have the heart to sort through the last couple hundred photos from this season of camp. I’ll miss the new coyote site, and watching the kids explore it and make it their own. Making forts and bridges and laughing the whole time. It’s nice to be able to look at photos and remember that feeling. The last few days were bittersweet, and there was a lot of dancing during singing circles on the final day of camp. Everyone was joining in, in stretching lines, hands on each other’s shoulders. It felt like everyone was singing harder. As everything wrapped up, everyone played their last games with a little extra heart. Then we cleaned up and said our goodbyes.

Summer Swimming

Photos from swimming in the Neversink River and Max’s pool. I keep recklessly wandering over/into water with my D100 and it’s a miracle I still have a camera, but I like the pictures I get.

Camp is wonderful

Camp has been going so smoothly, and as always, time passes really really fast. I made my first attempt at making and editing together a video. I’ve been trying to keep a video camera with me when I’m shooting photos and I liked this activity the kids did where they made slime, which is corn starch and water. It’s like thick gravy, but when you hit it, or roll it around it becomes hard. It’s a lot of fun to play with, but pictures don’t really do it justice so I cut together a little video. It was fun. The last photo with the markers is a picture by my talented girlfriend Samara. I really really like that photo.
